Fort Stockton ISD Teachers of the Quarter

Belva Houston was named the Alamo Teacher of the Quarter at last month’s school board meeting. Houston is currently teaching ELAR and social studies at the Alamo campus. Houston has worked for Fort Stockton ISD for 52 years.

Melissa Calderon was selected as the Intermediate Teacher of the Quarter for March at Monday’s school board meeting on March 28. Calderon is a bilingual first grade teacher.

Ramirez, Calderon recognized by Precinct No. 2

While touring West Texas, a traveling family coordinated an overnight stay in Fort Stockton before visiting Fort Davis. “We’re from Helotes, which is close to San Antonio,” began Carlos.

Historic jail, Sibley-Rollins House available for tours

Three historic properties in Fort Stockton were recently made available for tours during weekdays by way of the Pecos County Historical Commission. Three weeks ago, the commission opened the Historic Pecos County Jail, Sibley-Rollins House, and the Hovey School to the public for free tours.

Cope performs in Fort Stockton

Recording artist Charlie Cope performed at the Annie Riggs Museum in Fort Stockton on April 1. The one-time “Spring off the Patio” event had over 30 people in attendance and was a prelude to the Summer Off the Patio series that will begin at the museum on Thursday, May 26. Cope’s brand of americana music is formed from an array of genres including Rock, Country, Red Dirt, Folk, Soul, Pop, Blues, RnB, Bluegrass. Joe's Place holds grand opening

Joe’s Place and owner Joe Espino held a ribbon cutting ceremony on April at the bar’s location in downtown Fort Stockton. The ceremony, which was hosted by the Fort Stockton Chamber of Commerce, represented the business’ official grand opening and membership acceptance to the chamber. The bar, located at 216 W.
