A History of Saint Gall

Body

In 1868, Peter J. Gallagher bought the land that included the military garrison and Comanche Springs, platted 160 acres for a town site named Saint Gall, and established two stores at Comanche Springs. The Saint Gall area had first been surveyed in 1859 by Anson Mills of El Paso as a site for the original post. The platted subdivision shows Initial Point Center of Plaza.” Zero Stone, in the center of the plaza, marks the base point for all surveys in what became Pecos County.

Following in their father’s footsteps was not initially in the fold for Christiana Valadez and Adrian Valadez.

Their father, Albert Valadez, was an extremely successful attorney their entire lives growing up and although he may have wanted a few of his kids to become lawyers, the San Angelo native never pushed them down the same path he went down.

Body

Who’s the best barbecuer in Fort Stockton you may ask?

Fort Stockton native Jimmy Stephens might just be your guy. And his sons Aaron Stephens and Brian Stephens, who now live in Midland, might just be right up there with their father.

The three don’t claim to be, but the product speaks for itself.

In 2008, the Stephens’ entered a different realm of barbecuing when Jimmy and his oldest son Aaron decided to start competing in barbecue cookoffs around the state.

If you have been keeping up with our discussion in the last two articles that we began on Advent, this will be the third of five articles on Advent this December. In this article, we will spend some time discussing the Third Advent Candle. The candle that we light on the third Sunday of Advent is called “The Shepherd’s Candle” or “The Candle of Joy.” At FBC Fort Stockton we simply refer to it as the “Shepherd’s Candle of Joy.”

Traveling with children for the holidays? Baby it’s cold outside!

Body
Despite the ongoing pandemic and warnings to avoid travel, many families will be traveling with children to celebrate the holidays. This is a good time to stop and think about making sure that your child is safe in their car seat before planning your trip. The two important considerations are that your child is secure in the harness and the car seat is securely attached to the vehicle. One thing that parents often do not take into consideration is that heavy jackets can interfere with keeping children safe in car seats.
