The 85th Water Carnival was held from July 15-17 at the Comanche Springs Pool in Fort Stockton. The show themed “How Not To Propose In Vegas” featured water acts and dances pool side with individuals of all age groups. The show was held each evening from Thursday through Saturday after six pageant competition. The carnival resumed in 2021 after a cancellation of the show in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Gabriella Renteria was crowned Miss Fort Stockton 2021 on July 17 after the final showing of the Water Carnival. Renteria was one crowned by Miss Fort Stockton 2020 Katie Salmon. Renteria was one of six contestants who competed in the Miss Fort Stockton pageant. Other competitors includes Alyana Dominguez, Ysabella Sanchez, Izabella Diaz, Serena Quiroz, Gabriela Galindo. After several years in the making, Avan Feyry achieved his dream of opening his own cigar and beer lounge near downtown Fort Stockton. Feyry was inspired by a visit to Lincoln Street Wine and Cigar Bar in Fredericksburg.

The Grey Mule Saloon wine tasting room at 101 E Callaghan St. has discovered its first batch of grapes produced from its small backyard vineyard. The Grey Mule planted its vines back in April of 2017, which is a testament to the patience required with growing fresh grapes.

Dear Fort Stockton, I have loved you since the day was born, I can’t picture myself I growing up anywhere other than here. My family’s roots run deep in Fort Stockton, my roots run deep in Fort Stockton and I’m glad I never have to imagine what it would be like if that weren’t the case.
