Be Cool/Stay Cool Summer Camp begins on June 13

Fort Stockton Community Theatre announces its third annual Be Cool/ Stay Cool Summer Theatre Camp for youth aged from end of Kindergarten to end of eighth grade. The camp will run at the Nelson Street Theatre, 102 South Nelson St., from Monday, June 13 through Friday, June 24 from 1-4 p.m.

Introducing kids to national parks

It’s that time of year again, where the end of the school year means more free time for families with kids who are eager to take a break from the books and partake in outdoor pursuits. One way youngsters can become familiar with some of the national park sites while completing fun activities and earning merit badges is through the Junior Rangers Park program.

Apache Elementary in Fort Stockton held their Creative Youth Art Show for their students last month. Students had their art put on display at the Fort Stockton Public Library a week ago. The following are the placers in Michelle Natera’s kindergarten class: Nayeli Dominguez (first), Jaziah Morgan (second), Cali Terrazas (third), Kaira Smith (fourth), Caraline Freeman (fifth), Zaiden Mata (sixth), Kyrielle Perez (honorable mention), Yarithza Carrasco (honorable mention), Jonah Miller (honorable mention). Tobias Lopez placed first in Natera’s kindergarten class. Nutrition department recognized by USDA

The Fort Stockton Independent School District Child Nutrition Department and director Paul Casias were give a perfect review by the United States Department of Agriculture during a review conducted a month ago. Casias said the perfect score is the third one in three reviews since he took over the position in 2018. Sid Miller, Texas Department of Agriculture Commissioner said in a written letter to the district, which Casias is holding in the photo, “Mr. Paul Casias and your Child Nurtrition Department professionals are clearly committee to safeguarding the health and well-being of your students. They exemplify the highest standard of care and service by teaching children the relationship between eating and good health. Frontier CASA hosts hamburger sale

Frontier CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children) in Fort Stockton hosted a hamburger sale as a fundraisr at their office located at 101 N. Jackson St. People who attended were able to buy a $10 plate that included a burger, chips, drink, and a sweet. Sponsors of the event were the Pecos County Sheriff’s Office, K-Bobs Steakhouse, Porky’s Ice House, Pepsi, Millers Meat Market and Colt. Fort Stockton High School announced the Valedictorian and the Salutatorian for the Class of 2022, along with students who earned academic achievements, at the Academic and Honor Awards Program on April 28 in the Weaver Auditorium.
