Chavez honored for 30 years of firefighting service

Body
Fort Stockton-native Rolando “Ronnie” Chavez was recently honored by the city for serving as a Fort Stockton volunteer firefighter for 30 years, celebrating a long and storied career serving the citizens of Fort Stockton. But when Chavez became a firefighter in May 1992, he had already been serving as a medic with the Fort Stockton volunteer EMS and wasn’t exactly looking to become a firefighter.

The spirit of giving: Joy Run at Focused Care

Body

The Fort Stockton Chamber of Commerce annual Joy Run took place on Dec. 16 at Focused Care at Fort Stockton. All residents received gifts from Santa, Chamber of Commerce members, and volunteers in the community. A silent auction was held from Nov. 28 to Dec. 9 to raise funds to buy Christmas gifts for residents and other needed items for the nursing home. The proceeds of the auction were used to purchase gifts for every resident at the facility.
