“Boomtown” debuts this Saturday at FSCT

Fort Stockton Community Theatre reminds theater goers that “Boomtown,” a musical comedy performed by Texas Comedies, will have two performances on Saturday, Jan. 28, at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 29, at 2:00 p.m.
The Boomtown case will make their way to Fort Stockton for performances this Saturday and Sunday. Texas Comedies creates engaging performances based on local Texas history, bringing these works to communities across the state. They operate as a 501(c)(3) non-profit. Courtesy Photo

Pecos County Livestock Show winners announced

Winners of the Pecos County Stock Show were revealed this past week and James Tinkler with the Buena Vista FFA came away as the most decorated participant. Tinkler was the lone two-time grand champion at the annual event held at the Pecos County Coliseum.

Baker recognized by State Bar of Texas

Former Fort Stockton Attorney Robert W. (Bob) Baker was recently honored by the State Bar of Texas for continuous practice of law for over 50 years. He was presented an award for Meritorious Service “to the Community, State, and Nation” from 1972 to 2022.

“It is a true testament to the faithfulness of many clients we have had the privilege of serving over the years – and of course, the grace and mercy of God and my wife, Carol, who graduated to heaven in 2014,” Baker said.

Corrales selected as All-State Musician

Bruce King Company feeds area law enforcement

Fort Stockton native Marshall King and Paloma King showed their appreciation to law enforcement on Jan. 9 by giving out meals to law enforcement entities in the area on the behalf of all the Bruce King Company family.
The Fort Stockton Police Department was one of the law enforcement entities in the area that received free meals from Marshall King and Paloma King on Jan. 9 on the behalf of the Bruce King Company and all the King family. The act of kindness has been done by the King’s for three years and one they plan to keep doing in the future. Teacher organizes toy drive in Mexico border town

When Collette Barragan learned of a “Santa Run” that took Christmas gifts to children in Boquillas Del Carmen, Mexico, she always wanted to participate. Long before she came to Fort Stockton, Barragan often visited Boquillas – a Mexican border town adjacent to Big Bend National Park accessible only by boat – and when she learned of the Santa Run, she was unable to participate because her children were too young.

The Pecos County Amateur Radio Club will be conducting a Class to earn a Technician Class License on Saturdays Starting Jan. 7, 2023, starting at 9:00 a.m. and again on Tuesday nights at 6:30 p.m. starting Jan. 19. The classes will be held at the PCARC Club House, located at the FFA/county firing range east of Fort Stockton.
