Hopes of making the postseason are very much alive for the Prowlers after they claimed their first district win of the season on Jan. 21 at Pecos.
A trio of Prowlers – Mia Garcia, Alyana Dominguez, Eliana Mata – scored in double-digits and Sophie Hernandez secured 13 rebounds in the Prowlers 64-39 victory.
Fort Stockton head coach Sherman Chew said his crew came ready to play from the opening tip and never let off the gas in their first district win of the season.
Playing college softball has long been a goal of Fort Stockton’s Alex Cook-Pineda.
That aspiration will become a reality this upcoming fall after the senior pitcher and first baseman signed a letter of intent on Jan. 20 to play softball at Luna Community College in Las Vegas, New Mexico.
The Fort Stockton boys basketball team competed in their first home district contest of the season on Jan. 18 against Andrews. The Panthers came up, falling 64-31 to move to 0-2 in district play.
The Fort Stockton girls basketball team hosted Andrews on Jan. 18 for their fourth district contest of the season. The Mustangs came away with a 44-38 victory.
The Fort Stockton Baseball team's schedule was released on Jan. 18.
The Panthers will have their first official game on Feb. 22 against Presidio.
A four-point first quarter put the Prowlers basketball team behind the 8-ball to start Tuesday’s game against Andrews, and one they could not overcome in their 44-38 loss to the Mustangs at home.
The Prowlers outscored Andrews 14-11 in the final quarter but trailed 33-24 heading into the last eight minutes of regulation after an 8-0 run by Mustangs to end the third.
