Centennial Bar Lounge awaits completion

Body

Seated along North Main Street dressed with Roman-style columns and historical architecture, the former city police department building is the perfect fit for local attorney Albert Valadez’s music venue.

The new establishment, Centennial Bar Lounge, is promised to house a calming piano bar lounge on the first floor where visitors can relax and enjoy a beverage — a variety of mixed drinks, cocktails, wine and beer will be served. Upstairs, the space will be expanded into a dance floor with a DJ and bar.

Valadez originally considered transforming the area into an Airbnb for rent but with nearby competition, he went back to the drawing board. After walking upstairs, visitors will find that all of the old office cubicles are gone and the space is now designed for a dance floor.

SpringsFest to celebrate Comanche Springs history

Body

Until they were pumped dry in the 1960s, Comanche Springs was among Texas’ six largest springs, flowing at least 30 million gallons a day onto the dry earth of Pecos County. The springs created a desert oasis that earned Fort Stockton the title of Spring City and renown across West Texas.

It also supported dozens of farms that grew pecans, alfalfa and luscious melons known far and wide as Pecos Cantaloupes.
