Gene Cummings Park to receive additions

Body

Gene Cummings Park in Fort Stockton could soon be one of the top outdoor attractions for the youth and families in Fort Stockton with the planned renovations and additions by the city’s Economic Development Corporation.

The earliest addition will be a new $60,000 walking trail that will feature the nearby Helen Dionne Memorial Garden, which was approved at the EDC’s meeting on March 17.

The trail will be 1,800 feet – equivalent to just over a 1/3 of a mile in length.

The water used by the current spray park in Gene Cummings Park could soon be conserved with a water reclamation system that will recycle water for irrigation. Photo by Nathan Heuer
