Student supplies purchase approved

Fort Stockton ISD parents and guardians will once again get the opportunity to save a substantial amount of money on school supplies via the Student School Supplies Bulk Purchase Program. The FSISD School Board approved the program at their regular meeting on April 27, marking the second consecutive year the program will be set into motion.

Runoff elections feature local race

This year’s primary runoff election on May 24 will feature one local race in Fort Stockton. Republicans Darla Cude and Tammy Lujan are the two candidates vying for the District Clerk seat.

Search for new Fort Stockton ISD AD, football coach underway

The search for a new athletic director and head football coach at Fort Stockton ISD officially began a week ago after former head coach and AD Mike Peters was named the Saginaw ISD head football coach and Campus Athletic Coordinator.

Fort Stockton ISD Superintendent Dr. Gabriel Zamora confirmed that search began early last week after receiving the news from Peters that he accepted a job offer from another district.

Local sorority recognizes scholarship winners

Xi Zeta Lambda honored their annual 2022 scholarship winners and their mothers on Sunday, May 2, in the home of member Darrla with all members present.

Bella Diaz and Gabriella Galindo were named the winners of the scholarships.

Young, Edwards elected to PCWCID No. 1 Board of Directors

The Pecos County Water Control and Improvement District No. 1 canvassed votes from the May 7 election and swore in two new Board of Directors on May 10.

Garry Edwards and Tyler Young are the new board members and will serve four-year terms after receiving the most votes out of the five candidates running for the two seats.

Edwards received 23 votes and Young received 22 votes.

Joe Angel Garcia, of Odessa at 8:10 a.m., officers from the Pecos County Sheriff’s Office apprehended Garcia on a warrant for aggravated robbery

May 4

Adriana Alonso Gonzales, of Fort Stockton at 9:13 a.m., officers from the Pecos County Sheriff’s Office apprehended Gonzales on a warrant for assault causes bodily injury family violence.
