Propane fire destroys vehicles

No one was injured and two vehicles received significant damage from a fire that was ignited near the propane filling tank at Love’s Travel Stop in Fort Stockton on March 4 according to Fort Stockton Fire Department Chief Jessie Dominguez.

Old hospital demolished in Fort Stockton

The old Pecos County Hospital was demolished on March 3 by numerous entities within the county. All the county precincts tore down the structure with the aid of the Iraan crew of Precinct 3.

Juan Antonio Garcia, of College Station at 10:19 a.m., officers from the Pecos County Sheriff’s Office apprehended Garcia on a warrant from COMM-possession of a controlled substance penalty group one more 200 grams less than 400 grams. Garcia will serve sentence and is still in jai.

Gonzales announces Falcon as district director

Body

Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) named Fort Stockton native Jalen Falcon as his new district director on Monday after serving as Gonzales’ regional director since 2021.

Falcon will lead Gonzales’ team in the 23rd District of Texas, overseeing the five district offices in San Antonio, Uvalde, Fort Stockton, Socorro and Del Rio.

School board candidates made official

Candidates running for the Fort Stockton ISD school board in the upcoming May election were made official last week. Two of the three wards that are up for vote will have contested races.

Cude, Lujan to have primary election runoff

Two of the three local contested races for this year’s primary election were decided on March 1 and one will be headed to a runoff election in May.

The Democratic candidate race for Justice of the Peace Pct. 1 proved to be the tightest as incumbent Ruben Salinas defeated Oscar Gallegos by six votes (358-352). Salinas trailed 220-216 after early votes were reported.

Raul Sergio Ibarra, of Ozona at 8:09 p.m., officers from the Department of Public Safety apprehended Ibarra and he was charged with driving while intoxicated BAC more than or equal to 0.15. Ibarra received a $2,000 bond and is still in jail.
