County considers amending helicopter agreement

To keep the program going for local ranchers, the county is looking at amending the agreement for aerial hunting and game management services. Within the last several weeks, the Pecos County Commissioners Court has deliberated the current contract with Trans-Pecos Aviation LLC, a local company that provides the helicopter services.

PCMH implements vaccine mandate

After months of waiting to see if a mandate will go into effect, Pecos County Memorial Hospital staff will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 starting Feb. 21.

Missing Fort Stockton residents found in Mexico

Fort Stockton residents Hector Flores Jr. and his daughter Luna Flores were successfully located on Sunday after a missing persons report was originally filed by their family on Feb. 7 with the Fort Stockton Police Department.

Both were found together in good condition in Boquillas, Mexico, adjacent to Big Bend National Park.

Five people arrested in Fort Stockton drug busts

The Pecos County Sheriff’s Office, Texas DPS Criminal Investigations Division, and the U.S. Marshals executed two arrest and search warrants on Feb. 10 in Fort Stockton.

Four Fort Stockton residents and a San Antonio resident were apprehended in two separate drug busts.

New rec center financing decisions on tap next week

Citizens of Fort Stockton and the surrounding area will soon gain insight into the likelihood of a new recreational facility being built, and how it’ll be financed.

The Fort Stockton Independent School District will hold a special school board meeting on Feb. 16 to vote on bond propositions that will be voted on during the May election if passed on Wednesday. One of those propositions will be specifically for a new recreation center and the allotted amount for the proposition is approximately $5 million currently.

The Fort Stockton Recreation Center is currently located at 1201 W. Sherer St. Pictured is the gym to the facility which features two youth basketball courts and one full-sized basketball court. The campus which houses the gym was originally built in 1958.

FSCT to host free show Feb. 17

The “Rude Ladies” and members of the crew from Fort Stockton Community Theatre’s entry for TexFest, “Rude Awakenings,” written by Nicolas Ridley invite the community to a free public performance on Thursday, Feb. 17 at 7:00 p.m. at The Nelson Street Theatre. The show is less than an hour long as required by contest rules.
