Blown tire leads to fatal crash on I-10
A single car crash 32 miles east of Fort Stockton on Interstate 10 resulted in one fatality and another to be in serious condition on Feb. 19.
Sheffield resident Rain Nicole Stevenson, 24, lost control of a 2006 Dodge Durango heading eastbound on I-10 near mile marker 292 after the left rear tire blew out on the vehicle on Saturday at 1:56 p.m.
The vehicle left the roadway and collided with a rock wall, causing the driver to be ejected from the vehicle according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Passenger Stacy Medina, 48, of Sheffield, survived the crash and is in serious condition at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa as of Feb. 22.
Stevenson was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Wooten.
