Panthers put on offensive showcase at Comanche Classic

Timely hitting, aggressive baserunning, and effective pitching were on full display over the course of four games for the Fort Stockton baseball team at the Comanche Classic on Thursday, Feb. 25 and Friday, Feb. 26.

The Panthers secured three victories --- all in dominant fashion – to begin three-day event before finishing with a high-scoring loss to Big Spring.

Fort Stockton tallied 38 runs in their three wins, defeating Kermit 9-1, Alpine 18-0, and Stanton 11-2.

Pecos County State Bank announces promotions

The Directors of Pecos County State Bank recently announced four promotions in Fort Stockton.

Bill McAnally has been promoted to executive vice president. He began at the bank in 2013 where he also serves as an advisory director to the Board and as the primary agricultural loan officer.  Bill and his wife Daila have lived in Fort Stockton since 1995.

Robert Huerta Pena, Jr.

Body

Robert Huerta Pena, Jr., of Fort Stockton, Texas, passed away from this life on Feb. 16, 2021, at Odessa Regional Medical Center. He was born to Robert H. Pena, Sr., and Sally Salazar in Phoenix, Ariz., on March 4, 1945.

Robert graduated from Odessa High School in 1963. He joined the National Guard in Dec. 22, 1965, in Midland, Texas, and served until Dec. 21, 1971.

María Isabel Rodríguez

María Isabel Rodríguez, 73, of La Rosita, Coahuila, Mexico, transitioned to be with our Father in Heaven on Feb. 16, 2021 in Odessa, Texas.

Prayer service was held on Feb. 22, 2021, at Christian Center in Fort Stockton, Texas. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Feb. 23, 2021, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish with Father Lorenzo Hatch officiating. She will be laid to rest at Fort Stockton Catholic Cemetery.
