Local election to decide 3 races
Registered voters will have the opportunity to decide three local contested races for their respective parties in the upcoming primary election on March 1.
The Republican ballot for Pecos County District Clerk will be the most contested race on Tuesday as three candidates will vie for the seat.
Sylvia Guerra, Tammy Lujan, and Darla Cude are candidates for the position. The winner will go on to claim the District Clerk seat in Pecos County as there are no candidates for position for the Democratic party.
Republicans Dudley McKissac and Nathan Reeves are running for Precinct No. 4 Pecos County Commissioner. The winner will go up against incumbent Santiago Cantu, who is running for commissioner in an uncontested race for the Democratic party, in the November election.
Democrat Ruben Salinas, Precinct No. 1 Justice of the Peace incumbent candidate, will be opposed by Oscar Gallegos.
The winner will face Republican Rankin C. Mitchell, who is an uncontested race, during the November election.
Voting will run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on March 1. The following is voting locations for each precinct.

Precinct No. 4 Iraan Community Center, 508 S. Farr St.
Precinct No. 5 Old Schoolhouse, W. Highway 11, Girvin
Precinct No. 6 Coyanosa Community Center, 4646 S. Frank St.
Precinct No. 7 Rural Community Center, 115 W. 44th St., Fort Stockton
Precinct No. 9 Imperial Community Center, 208 S. Allison St.
Precinct No. 10 Fort Stockton Public Library, 500 N. Water St.
