Panthers earn playoff berth with win at Pecos

For the second straight year under head coach Jeremy Hickman, the Fort Stockton Panthers are headed to the post-season. The Panthers earned that right with a solid 28-7 win on the road at Pecos last Friday night that featured a career night rushing by Corbin Luna and a pair of touchdown-saving interceptions by Gerry Diaz.

Prowlers rip Andrews in tiebreaker, fall in bi-district playoff

The Fort Stockton Prowlers’ season came to an end on Tuesday night in Seminole with a 25-10, 25-12, 25-13 loss to West Plains in the bi-district playoffs, Fort Stockton’s first bi-district appearance since 2016. West Plains High School is the newest school in the fast growing Canyon Independent School District and is located on the southwest edge of the city of Amarillo along Loop 335 just south of I-40.

With the loss, the Prowlers finish 19-22 overall for the season while West Plains is 38-7 heading to the Area Round.

Blue Wave swimmers compete in Monahans

The Fort Stockton High School Blue Wave swim team competed in the Monahans Invitational on Oct. 28, and showed grit and determination to work on their times and events placing fourth overall with 262 points out of 10 teams.

Following last week’s loss in Monahans, the Fort Stockton Panthers bounced back with a 38-21 victory over the visiting Mountain View Lobos this past Friday. “I really liked the response they had from the loss last week following with a good week at practice,” said head coach Jeremy Hickman.

Last week the District 2-4A team tennis coaches met for their superlatives and the Fort Stockton Panther tennis team was able to walk away with several awards to solidify the great season they had. Awards are listed below:

Buena Vista blanks Fort Davis

Buena Vista Running Back Jackie Jurado plows through the line for a touchdown to put the Longhorns ahead 46-0 and end the game early against Fort Davis, last Friday night in Imperial. The Longhorns opened their district schedule with a win over the Indians and will be back in Imperial again this Friday night to face the Van Horn Eagles. Van Horn is 5-2 overall and 1-0 in District 6-1A Div. 2 after a similar 46-0 win over Marfa last week.

Jackson qualifies for state cross country meet

Ali Jackson punched a return ticket back to the state cross country meet in Round Rock, on Nov. 3-4. Jackson finished seventh out of 171 other high school girls throughout Region 1. Her12:36.72timeinthetwomile run was filled with hills and some wet conditions at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock. Nevertheless Ali will participate in the State Meet at 11:40 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4 at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.
