While most people were sleeping in on Saturday, nearly 70 fit and formidable runners showed up at Kokernot Field for the 10th annual Alpine Cowboys Home Run 5K and 10K to kick off the 2025 Pecos League baseball season. Emma Schumacher, Daisy Fernandez and Leslie Mojica are the newest additions to the Sul Ross State University women’s basketball team for the 2025-26 season. Schumacher and Fernandez are freshmen while Mojica is a junior transfer. Schumacher scored over 1000 points and pulled down over 500 rebounds during her career. She was Newcomer of the Year (freshman), All-District second team as a sophomore and All-District first team in each of her last two seasons. Schumacher excelled off the court as she was four-time Academic All-District, TABC Academic All-State and THSCA Academic All-State. She helped the Antlers go 7938 and reach the Class 5A Regional quarterfinals her sophomore year. “We’re very excited to welcome Emma as another addition to the Lady Lobos,” said Sul Ross State head coach EJ Smith. “Emma is a great student-athlete who is diligent about studying game films and improving her performance on the court. We need more players like her to continue to add to the culture of the Sul Ross program. I believe Emma will be a great teammate and we’re excited about her potential success.”
