Schumacher, Fernandez, Mojica Added to Women’s Basketball

Emma Schumacher, Daisy Fernandez and Leslie Mojica are the newest additions to the Sul Ross State University women’s basketball team for the 2025-26 season. Schumacher and Fernandez are freshmen while Mojica is a junior transfer. Schumacher scored over 1000 points and pulled down over 500 rebounds during her career. She was Newcomer of the Year (freshman), All-District second team as a sophomore and All-District first team in each of her last two seasons. Schumacher excelled off the court as she was four-time Academic All-District, TABC Academic All-State and THSCA Academic All-State. She helped the Antlers go 7938 and reach the Class 5A Regional quarterfinals her sophomore year. “We’re very excited to welcome Emma as another addition to the Lady Lobos,” said Sul Ross State head coach EJ Smith. “Emma is a great student-athlete who is diligent about studying game films and improving her performance on the court. We need more players like her to continue to add to the culture of the Sul Ross program. I believe Emma will be a great teammate and we’re excited about her potential success.”

The City of Fort Stockton’s Summer Rec Baseball and Softball season is heading toward its final stretch—and what a way to build momentum for the finish. Monday evening at the Martin Shuster Fields delivered one of the most electric moments of the summer, as Yankees player Favian Sanchez crushed an inside-thepark home run to break a 5-5 tie and secure a dramatic 7-5 walk-off win.

The crack of the bat and the pounding of sneakers will come together at one of the most scenic ballparks in Texas for the 10th Annual Alpine Cowboys Home Run 5k & 10k on Saturday. Set against the backdrop of historic Kokernot Field, this unique event blends a love of running with a deep appreciation for Alpine’s beloved baseball team.

Fort Stockton Athletics Prepares for a Busy Summer

Fort Stockton ISD Athletics is gearing up for a packed summer of training, skill-building, and fun with the return of its annual Strength and Conditioning program alongside a wide variety of sports camps for students of all ages. With camps beginning as early as June 2, student-athletes will have several opportunities to improve their fitness, refine their skills, and stay active throughout the summer.

Panther Tennis Shows Heart at UIL Regional Tournament in Lubbock

The Fort Stockton Panther Tennis Team wrapped up their postseason play this past weekend at the UIL Regional Tournament held May 9–10 in Lubbock. Despite drawing some of the toughest opponents in the bracket, the Panthers showed grit and determination on the court, representing Fort Stockton with pride in both boys doubles and girls singles competition.

SRSU Rodeo Coach to Enter Hall of Fame

Sul Ross State University Rodeo Coach C.J. Aragon will be inducted into the Idaho Rodeo Hall of Fame in October A native of Idaho, Aragon came to SRSU in Fall 2018. When he arrived, there were seven rodeo athletes on the team compared to more than 50 now.
