The Fort Stockton Little League continues to build on its winning tradition, celebrating a triumphant week as both the 12U Majors Baseball team and 14U Juniors Softball team were crowned District 37 Champions. The title wins mark backto- back district championships for both squads, showcasing the strength, resilience, and heart of Fort Stockton’s young athletes.

Cowboys Honor #57 with Big Wins

The Alpine Cowboys closed out a whirlwind week of baseball with an emotional tribute and a powerful win on Monday, June 9, the two-year anniversary of the passing of teammate #57 Jared Strait. With their 17-7 victory over the Blackwell FlyCatchers at Kokernot Field, the Cowboys capped off a week that featured explosive offense, gutsy pitching, and a rally to a winning 7-6 record.
On Monday, the Alpine honored their teammate Jared Straight, #57, who passed two years prior.

From West Texas to the World Stage

This week, two young athletes from Fort Stockton are competing on international courts in Barcelona, Spain — and two more from nearby Imperial will soon follow as they prepare to represent the United States in a multi-country tour through Europe. Fort Stockton’s Aundre Washington and Evan Cordero are currently in the midst of the Spain Euro Cup Tour, taking place June 8–16.

A group of Fort Stockton middle school athletes made a strong statement this past weekend, competing in the Big Spring Classic summer basketball tournament — and bringing home some well-earned hardware. The summer league teams, coached by parents, entered two girls’ divisions in the tournament.

Cowboys Open 2025 Season

The 2025 Pecos League season is underway, and the Alpine Cowboys have already shown flashes of grit, power, and promise despite a rocky 2-4 start. Under the guidance of newly appointed manager Lance Myers, the Cowboys split a six-game opening homestand that included a hard-fought series against the Pecos Bills and a dramatic extra-inning battle with the Tucson Saguaros.

While most people were sleeping in on Saturday, nearly 70 fit and formidable runners showed up at Kokernot Field for the 10th annual Alpine Cowboys Home Run 5K and 10K to kick off the 2025 Pecos League baseball season. Like the Cowboys’ historic run last year, there was no real competition, except for those chasing their own personal records.
