Eyes on the prize: Williams sets sights on top 3 finish at state
Champions are made in the offseason and Fort Stockton senior Alex Williams is a prime example. His success on the golf course this spring showed just that, qualifying for state for the first time just a few weeks ago.
Longhorns qualify six athletes for state meet
Mariana Sanchez has led the Longhorns all season no matter the sport. Whether it was on the trails of cross country courses last fall, on the hardwood during the basketball season, or on the track this spring, the upperclassman succeeded.
Walk-off HR ends Panthers season
The Fort Stockton baseball team was one out away from securing a spot in the bi-district round of the Class 4A playoffs during Friday’s contest against Monahans in Seminole. Then with one swing of the bat the season came to a conclusion for the Panthers.
Relay set to compete at state
The Fort Stockton Panthers 800-meter relay team will take to the track at Austin at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the University of Texas campus on May 6 at approximately 6:25 p.m. to compete at state in Class 4A.
Tennis earns district title
The Fort Stockton Middle School tennis team earned a district title on April 24 on their home court. Paige Boone earned a girl’s singles title as well as Alexander Gomez and Jazlene Tijerina, who placed first in the mixed doubles division. Dylan Jones was the runner-up in the boy’s singles bracket.
Garcia shines in JV White season finale
Fort Stockton’s Isaiah Garcia showed flashes of brilliance on the mound and at the plate in the Panthers JV White team’s season finale on April against Stanton. Garcia pitched a complete game shutout for the Panthers while managing to throw only 60 pitches) in his team’s 10-0 victory.
