Prowlers get best of Pecos in shootout

The Fort Stockton girls softball team secured their first district win of the season on Tuesday in a home contest against Pecos.

The Prowlers took advantage of 13 Eagle errors and eight hits – led by 2-of-4 performance at the plate by Alyana Dominguez.  The junior recorded two RBIs and made it on base a third time by way of a walk.

Scoring was scattered for both teams as there were three lead changes in the 14-12 victory for the Prowlers.

Jackson continues to make her mark on track

Fort Stockton freshman Ali Jackson continued her impressive start to her high school career on the track on March 25 at the Big Spring Invitational.

The multi-sport athlete earned a trio of top 3 finishes in running events, winning the 800-meter run, placing second in the 400, and crossing the finish line in third in the 1,600.

Leslie Esquivel had her best performance in the 3,200 this season via a runner-up finish. The junior added a fifth-place finish in the mile.

Improving times and marks in the early stages of the season is a common theme in track as athletes improve upon technique and reach peak condition. Fort Stockton’s Aryan Hernandez exemplified that in a big way on March 19 at an extremely competitive Greenwood Relays meet.

5 Prowler powerlifters place in top 10 at state

The Fort Stockton girls powerlifting team dominated their competition all season and on March 19 at the state meet in Corpus Christi, all five Prowlers who qualified showed they are among the strongest females in their classification.

FS tennis duo succeed

The Fort Stockton tennis team travelled to Big Lake on Friday to compete in the 40th Annual RCHS Tournament. The Panthers came home with two players, one boy and one girl, bringing back some hardware.

Prowlers blanked by Maidens, defeated by Rangers

The 17th ranked Seminole softball team used a 15-strikout performance by ace pitcher Kamryn Cottrell and an errorless defensive effort to get a 7-0 win against Fort Stockton in the Prowlers second district contest.

The Maidens scored two runs in the second inning, four in the fifth, and one in the sixth frame. Seminole plated all seven of their runs by way of a hit, starting with a two-run home run by Simone Roberson in the second inning.

Strong pitching, defense lead to district-opening victory

Fort Stockton ace pitcher Alex Williams and the Panthers defense put forth one of their best performances of the season on March 23 in their district-opener at home against Greenwood.

Williams gave up only one hit and struck out eight while throwing over 100 pitches in five innings.

The Fort Stockton defense ensured the effort by Williams was rewarded, committing no errors in their 5-3 win over the Rangers.

Panthers snap losing streak

The Fort Stockton baseball team headed to the West Texas March Classic - a tournament that holds games at four different locations - for four contests last week Fort Stockton tallied a 1-2-1 record after playing a pair of games in Greenwood on Thursday, a contest in Midland, and in Odessa to close their play over the weekend. Fort Stockton picked up their lone victory against a familiar foe in Lake View.
