Relay set to compete at state

The Fort Stockton Panthers 800-meter relay team will take to the track at Austin at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the University of Texas campus on May 6 at approximately 6:25 p.m. to compete at state in Class 4A.

Tennis earns district title

The Fort Stockton Middle School tennis team earned a district title on April 24 on their home court. Paige Boone earned a girl’s singles title as well as Alexander Gomez and Jazlene Tijerina, who placed first in the mixed doubles division. Dylan Jones was the runner-up in the boy’s singles bracket. Alyssa Bernal and the mixed doubles team of Moises Villarreal and Vianey placed third, rounding out a superior showing by the Panthers and Prowlers.

Fort Stockton’s Isaiah Garcia showed flashes of brilliance on the mound and at the plate in the Panthers JV White team’s season finale on April against Stanton. Garcia pitched a complete game shutout for the Panthers while managing to throw only 60 pitches) in his team’s 10-0 victory.

Panther Baseball: Losing streak extends to 5

Fort Stockton started the season by winning four of their first five games against district competition and since that time, the Panthers have been defeated in five consecutive games – moving their district record to 4-5 to conclude the regular season.

Panthers 800 relay punches ticket to state

For the first time since 2007, the Fort Stockton boys track team will have a relay team run at the state.

The Panthers 800-meter relay clocked it’s two best times of the season on back-to-back days to accomplish the feat. The group which features Eliazar Lopez, Miguel Trejo, A.J. Garcia, and Aryan Hernandez finished in second place at the Class 4A Region 1 track meet in Lubbock.

Prowlers blanked by Andrews

The Andrews softball team blew Friday’s game wide open against Fort Stockton following a 12- run second inning that featured a game-best seven hits, three walks, an error, and a batter being hit by a pitch.

Mustangs stymie Panthers

In Fort Stockton’s first meeting with Andrews on March 26, the Mustangs jumped out to a 10-5 and never looked back in a 21-5 victory. Andrews’ matchup against the Panthers in Fort Stockton on April 16 had a similar tale, even with the Jeremy Valadez’s squad closing the gap by four runs.

Panthers JV get best of Andrews

Fort Stockton gained a 1-0 lead in the first inning of Saturday’s game against Andrews on the road and the Panthers led the rest of the way in their 11-9 victory. Xzavier Dominguez, Isaiah Garcia, and Kayden Torres played key roles offensively as the latter had multiple hits to go along with doubles by Garcia and Dominguez.
