The Fort Stockton girls basketball team record fell to 2-5 against district competition after Tuesday’s 82-26 loss to the No. 23 ranked Seminole Maidens at home.

Time drops were the key to the Fort Stockton Blue Wave swim team’s success on Saturday, Jan. 23 at the District 4 5A swim meet in Andrews.

PANTHERS FRESHMAN 37 MONAHANS 35 AJ Granado led the Fort Stockton Panthers freshman basketball team to victory against Monahans on Friday, Jan. 22, scoring a team-high 13 points in 37-35 win.

The Fort Stockton powerlifting teams could not have started their seasons on a much better note after their outings on Saturday, Jan. 16 at the Sandhills Invitational.

Playing to the level of their competition is not what Fort Stockton girls basketball coach Sherman Chew is about, nor is his team. The first-year head coach had his team locked in heading into Tuesday’s game and the Prowlers didn’t take their winless opponent, Pecos, lightly.

With under six minutes to play in the third quarter of Tuesday’s game in Fort Stockton, the scoreboard read 33-28 in the favor of the Panthers. The advantage was garnered after one of their better 14-minute stretches of the season - beginning with just over two minutes to play in the first quarter to just over five minutes to play in the third quarter.

No love was lost in a heated battle on the court on Friday at the Special Event Center when the Fort Stockton boys basketball team squared off against Alpine. Tempers flared between fans, players, and coaches throughout in down-to-wire finish.
