The Fort Stockton girls track team put together their best performance of the season on March 19 at the Fightin’ Bucks Relays with 12 personal records being set by the Prowlers in route to a second-place finish as a team.

Prowler powerlifters show out at state

The Prowler powerlifters capped their spectacular 2022 campaign with five athletes finishing in the top eight at the state powerlifting meet in Corpus Christi on March 18. Tori Wilkins led Fort Stockton by garnering a bronze medal in her respective division with a three-lift total of 1,090 pounds. Alyssa Rangel placed sixth with a 560-pound total in her respective division. Gabriella Renteria recorded personal-best marks on all three lifts to place seventh with a 755-pound total. Panthers baseball: Ramirez, Dominguez ignite late rally in district-opening win

A late rally by Fort Stockton propelled the Panthers to a victory in their district opener at Greenwood on March 22, extending the Panthers’ win streak to four games.

The Rangers jumped out to 6-0 lead by the end of the first inning after scratching out six of their eight hits in the first three frames.

The Panthers rally began in the fifth inning and by the end of the sixth frame, Fort Stockton had a 9-6 lead. The Panthers added two runs in the seventh to cap their 11-6 victory.

Prowlers softball drop district opener

A loss was not the desired outcome to begin play against district competition for the Prowlers and first-year head coach Darrian Roberson. But there were many positive takeaways from Tuesday’s loss at home to Monahans for the Fort Stockton head coach.

Panthers’ bats scorch Da Vinci

The Fort Stockton baseball team will head into district play next week firing on all cylinders after they put on a clinic in all facets of the game in a homestand on March 15 against El Paso Da Vinci.

Twelve Panther batters scratched out 18 hits, including a team-best three hits each by Felipe Sotelo and Julian Leyva in the 21-0 victory.

Fort Stockton claimed a 9-0 lead after the first frame and closed the 4 1/2 inning contest with eight runs in the bottom of the fourth frame.

Freshman shows promise for Prowlers softball

While the season is still young for the Prowlers softball team, there is plenty of reason to believe that Darrian Roberson’s program is in good hands for many years to come. Freshman Kriselda Porras exemplified her potential to begin the season on the mound and fellow classmate Mia Garcia has followed suit at the plate, leading her Class 4A 20th ranked Prowlers in hits, doubles, and runs to start the Prowlers’ 2022 campaign.

Competing against high level competition in non-district play can only prepare a team for greater success come district time. The Panthers baseball team did just that last week in a trip over four hours east from home.

Wilkins sets regional powerlifting record

The Prowler powerlifting team is headed to state. The dominant eight-lifter squad earned third place as a team at their regional powerlifting meet in Monahans on March 5 behind a record-setting performance by Tori Wilkins.

Five individuals, two relays win titles at Sandhills Relays

Fabian Perez, Zane Hodges, and Ali Jackson have undefeated streaks are still intact. The standout track trio for Fort Stockton continued to blaze paths to more gold medals on March 4 in Monahans at the Sandhills Relays while defending titles in their strong-suited events.

Gomez, Pacheco earn silver medals

Sophomore duo Athena Gomez and Jaslyn Pacheco finished the Big Spring Invitational on March 4 with silver medals in hand. Fort Stockton head coach Victor Garcia explained that the pair have made significant strides through hard work since the beginning of the season and that they continue to strive to play at their best week in and week out.

“They’ve shown improvement at each and every tournament, only achieving better results than the last,” he said.
