Pecos County Sheriff T.J. Perkins reported on April 4 that Fort Stockton resident Braulio Davila-Luna, one of Texas’ 10 most wanted sex offenders, was arrested in Mexico by local authorities.
Davila-Luna was found in part to anonymous information provided by a tipster. A reward up to $3,000 was offered for information that led to his arrest.
Pecos County Judge Joe Shuster took a precautionary step on Tuesday to aid wildfire breakouts that could potentially take place due to the current drought conditions in the county.
Shuster signed a Disaster of Declaration Threat of Wildfires on April 5 following Governor Greg Abbott’s proclamation that was signed on April 1.
The action by Shuster will allow the county to ask for assistance from the state and federal government for any reimbursements on property loss.

Nora E Galindo-Armendariz, of Fort Stockton at 11:58 a.m., officers from the Department of Public Safety apprehended Galindo-Armendariz on a warrant for assault causes bodily injury. Galindo-Armendariz received a $1,500 bond and was released the same day.
Two of the 12 paramedics in the county will receive a stipend for completing Certified Critical Care.
“These two individuals have taken additional courses to become certified in this area to better provide patient care at a more advanced level than a regular paramedic,” said Lucia Mackintosh Castro of Pecos County Emergency Medical Services.
Gene Cummings Park in Fort Stockton could soon be one of the top outdoor attractions for the youth and families in Fort Stockton with the planned renovations and additions by the city’s Economic Development Corporation.
The earliest addition will be a new $60,000 walking trail that will feature the nearby Helen Dionne Memorial Garden, which was approved at the EDC’s meeting on March 17.
The trail will be 1,800 feet – equivalent to just over a 1/3 of a mile in length.
Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) secured $1 million in funds for the Sul Ross State University’s Archaeology, Anthropology and Cultural Research Center, better known as the Center of Big Bend Studies (CBBS), during the 2022 budget process.
President Biden signed the budget into law on March 15, certifying these funds for Texas’ 23rd Congressional District.
