Job seekers could expect to see a community job fair coming to Fort Stockton — but there are no concrete plans yet. The Bureau of Labor Statistics recently reported that 4.5 million American workers quit their jobs in November 2021, which is a trend of numbers that is becoming known as the Great Resignation.

Samuel Lawrence Fuentes, of Fort Stockton at 1 p.m., officers from the Fort Stockton Police Department apprehended Fuentes on a warrant for assault causes bodily injury family violence. Fuentes received a $25,000 bond and is still in jail.

COVID-19 cases show downward trend in county

Body

Pecos County reached an all-time high of 341 COVID-19 active cases on Jan. 12 as reported by the county’s emergency management coordinator Jessie Dominguez.

That number has since dropped to 205 active cases as of Jan. 24. Four people were reported to be hospitalized at Pecos County Memorial Hospital on Jan. 24 and four additional Pecos County residents were hospitalized at various healthcare facilities outside of the county.

Actors of all ages are needed to star in “The Tragedy of Ragweed Cowboy Joe,” a musical melodrama written by I. E. Clark, to be performed March 17-20 at The Nelson Street Theatre.

Fort Stockton man charged with intoxication manslaughter

Body

A Fort Stockton man is being charged with intoxication manslaughter after a two-car crash that killed two people on Jan. 22 according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Fort Stockton resident Enrique Enriquez, 39, was traveling west on FM 3472 in a Dodge Charger – just outside of Odessa City Limits – when he entered the eastbound lanes and collided head-on with another Dodge Charger at 11:50 p.m.

Grey Mule tasting room closes

The Grey Mule Saloon tasting room, located at 101 E. Callaghan St. in Fort Stockton, closed its doors for the foreseeable future on Jan. 16. The business will potentially be re-opening under new ownership in the future according to a source close the situation. The location served as a tasting room for Mesa Vineyards, providing wine tasting, wine and wine accessories for sale. Originally built in the 1880’s, the Grey Mule Saloon served Texas Rangers, cowboys passing through the area, and the U.S. Army troops stationed there to provide protection for the settlers and for the San Antonio - El Paso Road. City Parks Department goes above and beyond

The City of Fort Stockton’s Parks & Cemetery Department does more than just mow grass and fix sprinklers. City Manager Frank Rodriguez has stepped forward to commend the crew for all of the additional hard work they do behind the scenes, which sometimes goes unseen by the public eye.
