Buena Vista’s winning streak stayed intact and the Lady Longhorns unblemished district record remained perfect via a pair of dominant victories on Saturday and Monday. The Longhorns downed Sanderson in an away contest on Saturday 51-19.

The Fort Stockton boys basketball team ran into one of the better teams in the state in Class 4A on Tuesday at home in Seminole and the Indians showed why they’ll be contenders come postseason time.

The advantage was garnered after one of their better 14-minute stretches of the season - beginning with just over two minutes to play in the first quarter to just over five minutes to play in the third quarter.

Playing to the level of their competition is not what Fort Stockton girls basketball coach Sherman Chew is about, nor is his team. The first-year head coach had his team locked in heading into Tuesday’s game and the Prowlers didn’t take their winless opponent, Pecos, lightly.
