Prowler powerlifters take home 2nd consecutive crown

Esther Tercero, Tori Wilkins, and Madelyn Martinez went back-to-back on Saturday, bringing home gold medals in their respective weight divisions for the second consecutive meet on Saturday at the Mustang Powerlifting Invitational in Andrews.

Their efforts led the Fort Stockton girls to first-place finish as a team with 51 points.
Tercero maintained her unblemished record as she has now won all three meets the Prowlers have competed in this season. Wilkins and Martinez have each won two.

Eagles rally late to get past Panthers

With under six minutes to play in the third quarter of Tuesday’s game in Fort Stockton, the scoreboard read 33-28 in the favor of the Panthers. The advantage was garnered after one of their better 14-minute stretches of the season - beginning with just over two minutes to play in the first quarter to just over five minutes to play in the third quarter.

Playing to the level of their competition is not what Fort Stockton girls basketball coach Sherman Chew is about, nor is his team. The first-year head coach had his team locked in heading into Tuesday’s game and the Prowlers didn’t take their winless opponent, Pecos, lightly.
