In an effort to make quality of life better for area youth, the City of Fort Stockton and the Fort Stockton ISD are looking at developing two new tee-ball fields this year. The Fort Stockton ISD School Board approved the superintendent to negotiate terms of agreement with the city pending final approval of the board at their regular meeting on Jan.

Seminole rejects Panthers’ upset bid

For the first five minutes of Monday’s rescheduled district bout against Seminole, Fort Stockton was playing their best ball of the season.

Then the Indians showed why they’re currently atop the district standings.

The Panthers darted out to a 9-5 lead in the first quarter of the contest before being outscored 20-6 the remaining 11 minutes of the first half.

Senators have “once in a lifetime” chance with state budget

Telling members of the Senate Finance committee that they will likely never again see a session with the state as flush with cash as it is now, state Comptroller Glenn Hegar said lawmakers must decide how to carefully shepherd the state's record-breaking income. The Finance committee began budget hearings on Monday, opening with a presentation from the state's chief financial officer, who echoed comments he made earlier in the month when he laid out his forecast for state revenue over the next biennium.
