The Texas Department of Public Safety’s Midland District reported a total of 55 traffic crashes between midnight and noon on Monday, Jan. 30.

Texas DPS would like to recognize the efforts of their partners at the Texas Department of Transportation in clearing and maintaining the roadways of the Permian Basin. At this time, Texas DPS encourages the motoring public to continue to practice winter driving safety.

Due to possible inclement weather, the Panther and Prowler varsity basketball games have been moved to today against Seminole. The varsity girls are scheduled to play at 3 p.m. and the varsity boys are scheduled at 4:30 p.m.

The middle school games scheduled for today against Monahans are still going to be played as of this morning.

Arturo (Chavel) I. Sarabia 81 of Fort Stockton, Texas passed away on Jan. 20, 2023, in Fort Stockton, Texas.

Carolyn Brown Carpenter, born April 13, 1938, 84 years of age, of Fort Stockton, Texas, passed away on Jan. 23, 2023, in her home in Fort Stockton.

Visitation and Memorial service will take place on Jan. 28 at the Heritage Funeral Home in Fort Stockton, Texas. Visitation will be from 3-4 p.m. with the Memorial service from 4-5 p.m.
