County burn ban now off

The burn ban that has been in place in Pecos County since March 22 has now been lifted according to Pecos County Emergency Management Coordinator Jessie Dominguez. The order rescinding the burn ban was made official on June 1 after Pecos County Judge Joe Shuster signed the order.

Pecos County Community Action Agency Head Start held a graduation ceremony on June 1 for the pre-k students at the Pecos County Civic Center. Students performed dances while signing different songs before receiving a certificate by their instructor for this past school year. Gonzales works to aid border crisis

When it comes to illegal immigration in the state of Texas and the entire country, the situation will likely get much worse before it gets better if new policy is not put in place and the Biden Administration continues to turn a blind eye to the crisis taking at hand.

Dr. Garbriel Zamora officially became the superintendent of the Fort Stockton Independent School District on May 27 at the school board’s special meeting held at the school’s administration building. Zamora is taking over the position which was held by Ralph Traynham for the past 12 years. The new superintendent has his contract approved by a unanimous vote. McCamey man killed in rollover crash

A 34-year-old male was killed in a rollover accident on May 27 on FM 11 in Pecos County at mile marker 258.

Bobby Moss of McCamey was traveling north on FM 11 when he fell asleep at the wheel and overcorrected once the Ford F-150 left the roadway, causing the vehicle to roll according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Moss was not wearing a seatbelt when the accident occurred at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday.

First responders to receive more equipment

The Permian Strategic Partnership and the Permian Road Safety Coalition recently announced a $1.1 million donation of life-saving equipment to first responders in 22 counties across West Texas and Southeast New Mexico. The partnership allows the Coalition to expand its First Responder Life-Saving Equipment Initiative that began in early 2020 with its initial investment of over $250,000 in donated equipment.
