MMEX looks at solar projects

Pecos County is currently the leading the state of Texas in solar development, and more growth is expected in the near future. MMEX Resources Corp., a development-stage company focusing on the acquisition, development, and financing of oil, gas, refining, and infrastructure projects in Texas and South America, announced on May 25 that it has signed agreements to advance its first solar powered hydrogen and clean fuels with carbon capture projects, along with expansion of its site in Pecos County.

Athletic Administrator Of The Year

Fort Stockton Athletic Director and head football coach Mike Peters was awarded and recognized as the Region IV Athletic Administrator of the Year this past weekend at the THSADA Hall of Honor Banquet at the Kalahari Resort in Round Rock alongside his wife Priscilla Peters. Coach Peters was one of eight athletic directors from across the state who received the honor for their specific region. He is now is his sixth year as the athletic director of the FSISD. Youth receive first set of vaccines in Pecos County

For the first time in Pecos County, individuals ages 12-15-years old received a Pfizer vaccine last week at a clinic held by Pecos County Memorial Hospital. PCMH held the clinic at its Specialty Clinic and administered 73 shots, 68 of which were between the ages of 12-15.

Jessika Marquez of Fort Stockton graduated with an AAS in Accounting from South Plains College last month. Marquez was among more than 1,300 students who are being recognized for their academic achievement and resilience in a changing world.

County burn ban now off

The burn ban that has been in place in Pecos County since March 22 has now been lifted according to Pecos County Emergency Management Coordinator Jessie Dominguez. The order rescinding the burn ban was made official on June 1 after Pecos County Judge Joe Shuster signed the order.

Pecos County Community Action Agency Head Start holds graduation

Pecos County Community Action Agency Head Start held a graduation ceremony on June 1 for the pre-k students at the Pecos County Civic Center. Students performed dances while signing different songs before receiving a certificate by their instructor for this past school year.
