Gene Cummins Park set to close for upgrades

The city’s Economic Development Board has made notice that the Gene Cummins Park will be closed in 30 to 60 days for some much-needed upgrades, repairs and additions that are expected to take up to 30 days to complete. The focus of these improvements is on safety and conservation, and the timing of the closure is designed to have minimum impact on park patrons.

City seeks to update police dispatch consoles

The Fort Stockton Police Department Dispatch is becoming outdated, and the Fort Stockton city council took steps to correct that at its Oct.23 meeting. The police dispatch center needs two consoles to communicate with not only city police, but sheriff’s deputies and emergency operations. One computer is not working and the other is working but outdated.

Cactus Health provides community outreach services

Body

Cactus Health in Fort Stockton is more than just a community health clinic. Founded in 2003, Cactus Health began serving Fort Stockton in 2004 with primary and preventative health care, oral healthcare, mental health, and substance abuse services to individuals of all ages regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.

Cactus Health recently began a community outreach program, which expands the services offered to surrounding communities.

City Manager discusses city-county trash battle

The city of Fort Stockton will continue its annual spring cleanup despite Pecos County pulling out of its cooperative agreement with the city. Precincts 1 and 2 will do their own cleanup for Fort Stockton addresses outside the city limits.

Memorial Arch set for Nov. 1-2

The public is invited to remember loved ones who have died by visiting the Memorial Arch next to the Ofrenda on First Street behind The Nelson Street Theatre at the site of the Original Café Nov. 1-2 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
