Fort Stockton Rotary begins 2023 Toy Drive

The Fort Stockton Rotary has kicked off its annual Toy Drive to serve children in the area. This year 265 children have been identified as needing toys this Christmas, so once again the Rotary Club is asking for your help.

Annual Pecan and Pecan Food Show Announces Winners

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office’s Pecos County Pecan and Pecan Food Show took place on Nov. 30 at the First National Bank, exceptionally led by Ms. Elaine Haby. Grand Champions were awarded $550 and Reserve Grand Champions received $400. The Pecan Food competition was divided into two categories: youth and adult. The food category was further divided into breads, candies, pies and a miscellaneous category that saw everything from pecan tamales to some very interesting dips. Judges for this year’s Pecan Food Show were locals Nan Esparza, Letty Gaylor, Richard Martinez, and Veronica Carrasco with oversight from Monte Nesbitt of A&M’s Department of Horticulture Sciences.

Lucky Two Times a Fort Stockton sanctuary for animal crime victims

Lucky Two Times Animal Sanctuary is not a rescue organization, it’s a sanctuary. And currently, there are 54 dogs, 23 cats, two horses, one donkey (don’t call him a “mule” or his feelings will be hurt), two roosters, two ducks and five chickens. All either involved in a criminal case or victims of abuse.
