Pecos County Senior Center Christmas Potluck is Dec. 15

The Pecos County Senior Center will have its annual Christmas Potluck Dinner on Friday, Dec. 15, at noon at the Senior Center. A spiral cut ham will be provided along with drinks. The Center’s Advisory Board for 2024 will also be installed at that time.

Fort Stockton Rotary provides grant to Angel Flight

The Fort Stockton Rotary Club made a donation of $2,500 and 30 gift bags to Dale Briscoe of Angel Flight to purchase airplane fuel and to provide blankets for patients he will carry to medical centers at no charge to the patient. The $2,500 came from $1,500 the club raised, plus a grant of $1,000 from the Rotary District office.

City ‘Disannexes’ property, amends ordinance for recreational off-highway vehicles

The city of Fort Stockton city council has been working since late summer on changing the zoning for a 0.72-acre piece of property in the Orient Park Addition and annexing the property into the city limits at the request of then-property owners Eleno Flores and Jose Gilberto Flores as part of the Property Purchase Agreement, an action which the city completed Oct. 10 after a series of public hearings.

County enters into lease agreement with FS Chamber for rodeo

The five-year run of the Comanche Springs Rodeo has been a successful one for the Fort Stockton Chamber of Commerce and all of Pecos County. The Chamber and County hope to continue that trend, and mutually agreed to a five-year lease agreement on Monday morning to continue the rodeo every fourth weekend In March at the Pecos County Civic Center and Pecos County Coliseum.

Headways Beauty Salon Celebrates 40 ‘Blessed’ Years in Business

Since 1983, Elvira “Vira” Feyry has been cutting and styling hair as the owner of Headways Beauty Salon at 318 N. Main Street in what used to be the old Webb Cafe. To celebrate Headways’ 40th anniversary, Feyry pulled out all the stops on Saturday, Dec 1. In addition to a packed ribbon cutting ceremony, Headways provided clients hamburgers and hot dogs, and hosted a block party just outside the business, complete with vendors and music. The ribbon cutting ceremony, originally planned to be held outdoors, was moved inside due to high winds.
