The Fort Stockton City Council on Sept. 25 approved Ordinance No. 23-129, An Ordinance Amending the Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual by Incorporating revised job descriptions for Part Time/Seasonal/ Temporary, Pay Grade 13; Records Manager, Pay Grade 15; Communication Supervisor, Pay Grade 20; Senior Administrative Assistant, Pay Grade 20; Information Technology Technician, Pay Grade 22; Assistant to the Finance Director, Pay Grade 22; Director of Finance, Pay Grade 32; Chief of Police, Pay Grade 32; EDC Executive Director, Pay Grade 32; Assistant City Manager, Pay Grade 32 to the Job Classification Table and Compensation PlanSalary Scale; Repealing Job Descriptions for City Attorney, Pay Grade 15 to the Job Classification Table and Compensation Plan-Salary Scale.

Six participants of the Rotary International Foreign Exchange Program traveled to Fort Stockton Sept. 7 for a three-day orientation and retreat. The students were accompanied by four sponsors from Rotary District 5520 and were greeted by members of the Fort Stockton Rotary Club, which played host to the meeting.

The Pecos County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit waspatrollingIH-10onSept.23whentheDeputy observed a vehicle make an unsafe lane change, and then follow a commercial vehicle at an unsafe distance. The Deputy conducted a traffic stop and contacted the driver.

The vast expanse of West Texas is what brings visitors and residents to the Trans Pecos and Davis Mountains, but those wide-open spaces can be difficult for school athletic teams who travel those long distance to play one another. But soon, Fort Stockton Middle and High School athletes and coaches will travel in style thanks to seven new buses approved for purchase at Monday’s district school board meeting.

The Texas Well Owner Network, TWON, is hosting four upcoming events in West Texas on Oct. 10-13 to allow residents to have their well water screened: one “Well Educated” water well screening in Alpine and three “Well Informed” water well screenings in Fort Stockton, Pecos and El Paso.
