Mendoza to fight in New Mexico Feb. 24

Eyeing a bout for a world title fight or a big-name opponent by the end of the year, undefeated boxer Abel Mendoza (36-0) will continue his quest in his second Triller-promoted fight later this month.

Panther football: New offseason program underway

Accountability, relentless effort, being tough, and being detailed oriented.

The four pillars are the foundation that is currently under construction in the Fort Stockton football program under the guidance of first-year head football coach and athletic director Jeremy Hickman.

The Fort Stockton native is in the process of implementing an entirely new, five-phase offseason program that he learned over a decade ago during his time as a coach at Cypress Woods High School.

Lady Loboes get best of Prowlers in rematch

Fort Stockton had an opportunity to clinch a playoff birth against Monahans in their second-to-last game of the regular season on Feb. 3 at the Special Events Center.

A frigid offensive performance by the Prowlers in the first half largely prevented the feat from coming to fruition.

Lobo 3-pointers rain on Panthers’ hot start, propel Monahans to win

An upset was brewing in Pantherland on Friday during the early stages of a heated rivalry between Fort Stockton and Monahans.

Or so it seemed when the first quarter ended and the Panthers were ahead 14-9.

Robert Brooks and Kyle Vanek had something else to say about it.

The Lobo duo scored 28 of their 30 combined points in the final three quarters of play, including five 3-pointers in the second quarter, to lead their team 57-46 victory.

Ureste, Rojas named to 4A-2 all-state team

Body

Two members of last year’s Fort Stockton football team were selected to the Padilla Poll 4A Division II All-State Teams according to a news release that was revealed on Jan. 24.

Center Cruz Rojas was named to the second-team offensive line while Daren Ureste was selected as a second-team linebacker.
