Fort Stockton Athletics host summer workout program

Fort Stockton Athletics will host a Strength and Conditioning Camp (SAC Camp) for all Panther and Prowler student athletes grades 6-12. The camp will run Monday through Wednesday with Thursdays acting as an open weight room/gym. Each day, the workouts will be at the Fort Stockton High School Football Field and/or the HPE. The first workout session takes place from 7-8:30 a.m. for 9th-12th graders, while the second session takes place from 9:3010:30 a.m. for 6th-8th graders. Lastly, the weight room will be available for use each Thursday from 8-10 a.m. at the HPE.

An end of athletic competition for 2023-24 seasons, on Tuesday, May 7, the Fort Stockton Athletics Department hosted the annual Spring Fling for all athletic teams. The Spring Fling gathering is a time for student athletes to unwind at the end of their competitive seasons, while also allowing each program to be recognized for their accomplishments.

The Lone Star State’s capital recently witnessed the outstanding athleticism of two Fort Stockton athletes as they represented their school at the prestigious University Interscholastic League (UIL) 4A State Track Meet. Senior Alissandra Jackson of the Prowlers and Sophomore Eduardo Hernandez of the Panthers showcased their talent and determination on the biggest stage.

BBNP selects new superintendent

The National Park Service has selected a new superintendent for Big Bend National Park. Anjna O’Connor will be the new park superintendent and she will begin her new assignment on May 19. According to Deputy Regional Director Lance Hatten, “Anjna has a record of success that demonstrates her superior ability to build coalitions with local, state, and federal partners.” “In Texas, she has well-established relationships with student groups, emergency service providers, and advocates for outdoor recreation. Anjna’s ability to forge and maintain strong partnerships while leading a complex land management organization will be a real asset for Big Bend National Park,” Hatten added.
