Prowlers Send Four to State Meet

Fort Stockton’s equipped Prowler powerlifters added two more state qualifiers at the regional meet in Odessa, continuing a strong postseason push for the program and bringing the team’s total to four state qualifiers heading into the girls state meet set for March 18–21 in Edinburg.

King Set to Guide Lobos Volleyball

Hollie King has been named head coach of the Sul Ross State University volleyball team. She started at SRSU on Mar. 16. “Coach King brings a deep passion for building a volleyball program that is both competitive and rooted in community to Sul Ross State, “ said Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletic Amanda Workman. “She is committed to developing her players not only as athletes, but also as student s and individuals of strong character. We are excited to welcome Coach King and her family to Alpine and look forward to the positive impact she will have on our student-athletes and the future of our program.” King has spent the last two years as head coach at Wesleyan (Ga.). During her tenure, the Wolves had two All-Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) selections. King had the satisfaction of seeing seven of her student-athletes earn 2024-25 CCS Academic All-Conference honors. From 2014 to 2023, King coached at the club and K-12 level in Texas. King jumped to the college ranks in 2023 as an assistant coach at Dallas Christian College. She helped the Lady Crusaders qualify for the NCCAA Regional tournament. King helped in the development of two All-Region players. King founded A+ Athletics in Jan. 2020. The organization provides guidance, training, and recruiting assistance to help volleyball players reach the collegiate level. King has seen over 100 high school students get enrolled and play at the collegiate level. “I could not be more excited to take on this responsibility as we work to build a championship volleyball program that will make Sul Ross University and the Alpine, Texas community proud,” said King. “Every successful team is built on alignment in leadership and a shared vision for excellence. It starts with the university’s support, continues with the coaching staff, and extends to every studentathlete who represents Sul Ross. Together, we are committed to building a first-class program that competes with passion, discipline, and pride.” King has an Associates Degree in Medical Assisting from Remington College and a B.S. in Physical Education from St. Andrews (N.C.). She also has certifications in CPR, Certified Medical Assistant, AED and TEFL. King resides in Alpine with her children, Chandler and Skylar.

The Fort Stockton Panthers continued their early- season track campaign with another competitive outing at the Big Spring Relays on March 5, finishing fourth overall with 92 team points as the program continues building momentum toward district competition.

Barragan Wins Golf Tournament as Panthers, Prowlers Compete

The Fort Stockton Panthers and Prowlers golf teams wrapped up competition before the Spring Break holiday with a busy stretch of tournament play, highlighted by a dominant individual performance from Panther golfer Bradye Barragan and continued development from both the varsity and junior varsity programs.

Prowlers Open District with Win Over Seminole

The Fort Stockton Prowlers opened District play in emphatic fashion Monday morning, securing a hard-fought 14-11 road victory over Seminole to start the district schedule 1-0. The win followed an offensive explosion just days earlier, when Fort Stockton defeated Alpine 17-1 on Friday, March 6.
