Tuesday’s triple digit weather led many travelers to pull in for a cold drink or to let their engines cool. In the company of many vehicles was a hybrid between a school bus and an RV that stopped in town for a rest.

Nau honored with award

The Borderlands Research Institute and the Borderlands Research Foundation honored Houston businessman John L. Nau III with the inaugural West Texas Conservationist of the Year award on May 25. The award was presented at a special event at the River Oaks Country Club in Houston.

On May 13, Mario Perales led Midland College’s graduation procession. Perales is a veteran student who completed his Bachelor of Applied Technology and graduated with honors, Magna Cum Laude, Phi Theta, Kappa, and Sigma Kappa Delta.

Summer Off The Patio concerts return

The Annie Riggs Memorial Museum kicked off it’s annual Summer Off The Patio concert series with a successful opener last Thursday, May 26. Soul artist Donovan Keith of Austin provided a blend of soul, funk and rock as his band played drums, bass, guitar, keys and saxophone.
