Longtime co-workers Gavyn Thomas and Leslie Rodriguez had set out on a journey many years ago to start a successful business. And now they have begun what they hope will be just the beginning of their ventures as business owners.

Toastmasters winners

Toastmasters in Fort Stockton met on May 20 at the Fort Stockton Public Library for one of their bi-monthly meetings. The group’s president, Karan Heffelfinger presented the awards at the meeting. Houston Mckenzie, bottom photo, was recognized as the Best Speaker.
The Best Table Topics Speaker was visitor Lance Smith.

4-H state food challenge qualifiers recognized

Three Pecos County 4-H students were recognized for their state-qualifying achievement at the Pecos County Commissioner Court regular meeting on June 27. Mikki Mandujano, James Garrison, and Bryon Garrison were the state qualifiers.

Brew Lane Café Express, owned by local pharmacist Gavyn Thomas and Leslie Rodriguez, opened their doors for the first time to the public on May 25. The business, located at 302 E. Dickinson Blvd., offers items that you can find nowhere else in town such as their nitro cold brew.
