The Big Bend Open Road Race (BBORR) Fall 2025 event came to a thrilling close this weekend, culminating in a celebratory Banquet and Awards Ceremony held at the Pecos County Civic Center. After pushing their machines across 118 miles of challenging West Texas highway between Fort Stockton and Sanderson, racers gathered to claim trophies and commemorate remarkable feats of speed, precision, and dedication.

The Annie Riggs Museum Platinum Anniversary

The Annie Riggs Memorial Museum, dedicated to preserving and sharing the incredible history of Fort Stockton and Pecos County reaching back over the years, is celebrating its 70th anniversary with a crucial community fundraiser. The museum is hosting a Platinum Anniversary Gala Fundraiser on Thursday, November 20, from 6 p.m.

Council Expands City Limits

The Fort Stockton City Council ratified major land annexation and development projects during its regular meeting Tuesday, October 14, while facing immediate questions from the media regarding the executive session. During the public testimony portion of the meeting, a local veteran addressed the council, requesting they consider issuing vendor licenses to disabled veterans and veterans free of charge to help them earn a living.

Fort Stockton residents and Pecos County citizens are encouraged to attend two major governmental meetings scheduled for Monday, October 27, 2025, as both the Fort Stockton City Council and the Pecos County Commissioners Court convene to address critical local issues ranging from residential zoning and traffic safety to renewable energy development and public safety funding. City Council Meeting Focuses on Zoning and Speed Limits The Fort Stockton City Council Regular Meeting is set for 5:30 PM at 121 West Second Street, Fort Stockton, TX 79735.

Board of Visitors Summer Meeting

This July, McDonald Observatory hosted the annual Board of Visitors Summer Meeting. Featuring science talks, discussion groups, and telescope tours and viewings, the event connected almost 200 attendees with the latest astronomical research.
