Foundation opens scholarship application for 2022-23 academic year

Permian Basin Area Foundation recently announced the opening of the 2022-2023 scholarship cycle. Students and counselors may view eligibility and selection criteria for more than 85 scholarships through the application platform, AcademicWorks, which can be accessed through the Permian Basin Area Foundation website at pbaf.org. The application deadline is March 31.

CDC changes quarantine guidelines

Changes in quarantine time after testing positive for COVID-19 in Pecos County could soon be shorter. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention announced on Monday that their guidelines for quarantine time changed from 10 days to five days due to the nature of Omicron variant.

New Coyanosa Community Center nearing completion

The new $1.2 million Coyanosa Community Center will soon be open to public this upcoming year. Pecos County Judge Joe Shuster said at Monday’s commissioners meeting that the fa cility will likely be complete by the end of January and a grand opening will soon follow.

Brain Anthony Gonzales, of Fort Stockton at 12:45 a.m., officers from the Department of Public Safety apprehended Gonzales and he was charged with unlawful carrying of weapon and possession of marijuana less than two ounces. Gonzales received bonds totaling $1,500 and was released the same day.

Convention Center receives exterior makeover

The exterior of the city’s Convention Center is now amplified with a new gray paint color as numerous renovations continue on the inside.
