Burkes Outlet Fort Stockton location rebrands as ‘bealls’

Shoppers looking for Burkes Outlet might have noticed a change at the Fort Stockton location over the past several months. Burkes Outlet made the switch to ‘bealls’ in May as part of a company re-branding of the 600 Bealls Outlet and Burkes locations in 23 states.
County replaces Coyanosa Fire with Fort Stockton

The number of Fort Stockton Volunteer Firefighters who work in Coyanosa has prompted the recommendation by Pecos County to add a substation of the Fort Stockton Fire Department to the Coyanosa area. “They’ve got about six or seven employees who work in the Coyanosa area,” said county judge Joe Shuster.

City council hears CVB quarterly report

The Fort Stockton City Council heard a report from Convention and Visitor’s Bureau Director Cindy Melendez regarding her efforts to not only help bring more tourist money to the city but bring more events for residents to enjoy and enhance quality of life.
School district approves safety resolution

In a specially called Fort Stockton Independent School District Board of Trustees meeting, Monday afternoon, the board voted on a resolution to comply with state school security mandates. House Bill 3 requires at least one armed security guard be at each campus in the school district, and the school district was going to work with the Fort Stockton Police Department on security until the city backed away due to staffing issues.
AgriLife Extension county agents fill positions across state

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service announced the hiring of new county agents across the state, as well as transfers within the agency. AgriLife Extension employs county agents to serve every Texas county.
