Anthony Gomez came away from the Region I 5A Swimming and Diving Championship in Lubbock as Fort Stockton’s top finisher, recording the eighth most points in the diving competition for the boys team. The Panthers placed 14th in a 30 team field while the Prowlers finished in a three-way tie for 15th place in a 28-team region.
Franco demolishes opponent in rematch

Joshua Franco, great nephew of Rudy and Sophia Franco, boxed last month in Odessa. His opponent out of El Paso requested a rematch from a previous split decision loss.

The Panthers started off the game hot, scoring 19 in the first quarter.

Panthers basketball: Close but no cigar

Fort Stockton head coach Jimmy Martinez iterated after Tuesday’s home game against Andrews the theme of the season in close games.
The Panthers battle and play tough but are unable to capitalize in those game-deciding moments.
“We played good, we played well. We just didn’t knock down shots when we had them open and missed out on some opportunities,” Martinez said. That’s what I wanted from them. They showed up, they played, just didn’t execute on the opportunities we had.”
