The Prowler’s varsity squad competed in the Buena Vista Longhorn Classic in Imperial last week, going 2-1 for the tournament with wins over New Way Charter Academy and Balmorhea, with a loss to the host Longhorns, Friday.

Longhorns successful at tourney

Buena Vista’s Longhorns entered the holiday break this week after an impressive 2-1 showing at the Longhorn Classic and enter the time off with a 10-5 overall record. Buena Vista tipped off the tournament Thursday with a 65-45 win over New Way Christian School before falling to Coahoma 73-51 on Friday.

Mendoza eyes potential Pacquiao bout following controversial draw in exhibition

In a set of rather bizarre circumstances, Abel Mendoza’s perfect record is still intact.

The West Texas undefeated super featherweight boxer (36-0) was scheduled to fight a contested bout at 132 pounds against Cristian Ruben Mino (22-7-2) on the main card of the Triller produced event on Dec. 10, which was headlined by Manny Pacquiao vs. DK Yoo.

Prowlers put together first win streak of season

As the Prowler basketball program slowly approaches district play in just over three weeks, Fort Stockton is beginning to find its rhythm under first-year head coach Lea Daggett. The Prowlers won back-to-back games for the first time this season after they defeated Lake View 47-29 on Dec.

Stanton tourney: Panthers tally 2-2 record

Fort Stockton topped the 80-point mark for the first time since 2019 and a candidate to lead the Panthers in scoring on a weekly basis emerged during the Pinky Jones Hooptown Classic in Stanton. The Panthers ended the three-day event with a bang, defeating Rankin 8154 on Dec.

Washington named to all-tourney team

Body

The Fort Stockton junior varsity Panthers put forth another superior performance this past week at the Van Horn Tournament, winning the consolation trophy at the event.

Aundre Washington was named to the all-tournament team for multiple 20-point outings for the Panthers.

Fort Stockton’s performance as a team was highlighted with a 72-70 win over the Sanderson varsity squad.

Buena Vista boys grab wins at Garden City, Lady Longhorns roll over Iraan

Body

The Buena Vista Longhorns’ expected home game against Sierra Blanca on Tuesday was canceled at the last minute, robbing the Longhorns of a quality warmup game before this weekend’s Longhorn Classic.

So far this season, the Longhorns have played well, getting off to a 7-4 start after many of their starters began the season with very little practice time after football.

The Prowlers claimed their second-largest win of the season in terms of scoring margin on Tuesday at home against Lake View. Senior Eliana Mata led Fort Stockton to a 47-29 win with a season-high 14 points.

Panthers nab 18 all-district football selections

On the field this past season, the Panthers football team put forth one of the best seasons in school history with a 10-win campaign that featured an area round appearance in Class 4A-2. Fort Stockton’s all-district selections exemplified their on-field success this past week as 18 Panthers were recognized by coaches within 4A-2 District 1.
