In a contest where the Prowlers left the bases loaded twice, Mia Garcia’s season-best performance at the plate and Fort Stockton’s defensive performance in the final three innings of Tuesday’s contest against Seminole proved to be the deciders.

Garcia’s home run – her fourth dinger of the season – turned a 6-3 deficit into a 6-6 tie in the bottom of the second frame.

Fellow sophomore Kriselda Porras sealed the victory for the Prowlers in the fourth inning via an RBI single, breaking a 7-7 tie and giving Fort Stockton an 8-7 victory.

The Prowlers defense played error free ball in the final three frames and recorded four flyouts, four groundouts, and a fielder’s choice.

Fort Stockton plated one run in the third in inning to take a 7-6 advantage when Janean Gonzalez scored following a wild pitch.

Dmya Vaugh setup Gonzalez’s tie-breaking run as she scratched out a two-out double to left field before Seminole’s wild pitch occurred.

The Maidens tied the game in the top of the fourth inning on an RBI single by two-spot hitter Zoey Teichroeb.

Maiden leadoff hitter Valerie Reyes was pushed across home in the frame after the freshman made it one base via a Fort Stockton error.

Garcia led the Prowlers at the plate with a 3-for-4 performance. Porras and Adree Bueno followed with two hits apiece.

Porras started on the mound and allowed seven hits, three walks, five earned runs, and struck out one batter in 2 2/3 innings.

Aryanna Gonzalez tossed the last 4 1/3 frames and allowed two hits, one walk, no earned runs, and struck out one batter.

With the victory Fort Stockton secured the season sweep of the Maidens and kept their postseason hopes alive. The Prowlers will need to defeat the top two teams in their district standings in Andrews and Monahans, as well as have Greenwood lose their last two district contests.

Up next is senior night against the Lady Loboes on Friday, March 14 starting at 5 p.m.
