For the first time in their high school cross country careers, Fort Stockton sophomore Ali Jackson and junior Fabian Perez qualified for the state cross country meet.

The duo showed tremendous improvement from a season ago to accomplish the feat on Oct. 25 at the 4A Region 1 Championship at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock.

Sul Ross to host youth soccer clinics

Sul Ross State University men’s and women’s soccer teams, in conjunction with the Big Bend Youth Soccer Association, will host weekly skills clinics on Sundays for the local soccer community. The clinics are led by head men’s soccer coach Jon Evan, head women’s soccer coach John Dominguez, and graduate assistant Lorenzo Segura.

Pumpkin Patch 5K

The Pumpkin Patch 5K was held in Coyanosa on Oct. 16 and 54 runners participated in the event. Mariana Sanchez of Imperial was the overall female champion of the event, finishing in 19 minutes 44 seconds. Guillermo Rodriguez was the overall male champion, crossing the fine line in 20:46. Also pictured is the top two finishers from Fort Stockton, Saul Leyva and Kessia Ledesma. Leyva won the 20-29 years-old male division and Ledesma placed first in the 30-39 years-old female division.
