Joe was raised in Fort Stockton, Texas, where he grew up surrounded by family and friends, and proudly graduated from Fort Stockton High School.

Monte Beard, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and lifelong resident of Fort Stockton, passed away peacefully on October 7, at the Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home in Big Spring. He was 77 years old. Born on March 5, 1948, in Utopia, Texas, Monte proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1968 to 1974, including a tour in Vietnam. His courage and dedication to service remained a defining part of his life.
