Pecos County State Bank to sponsor foster child giving tree

The Texas Department of Child Protective Services Christmas Foster Child program has joined efforts with The Pecos County State Bank in sponsoring the “Foster Child Giving Tree” this year.  Paper ornaments with names of Foster Children from our area with their Christmas Wishes, are available at The Pecos County State Bank for you to pick up and spread the Christmas joy by shopping and providing the gifts listed.  Some of these wishes are for toys and others for clothing.

Otilia “Tillie” Franco Nunez, 85, of Fort Stockton, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family after a devastating battle to breast cancer on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2022.

Otilia, “Tillie”, “Mrs. David Nunez”, “Vieja”, “Mom”, “Jefa”, “Mama”, “Momo”, “Tia”, “Sister”, “Grandma Nunez” was known by so many names, but our favorite name for her was “MOM”.

We now find ourselves 24 days from Christmas. Where did the year go? It seems as if just yesterday we were ushering in 2022, in hopes that it would far surpass the chaos and mayhem of the previous two years. Holidays, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas, I hope are more carefully thought out after the losses of friends and loved ones over the past few years, and what better way to do that than with pie.
