If I were to guess, I would imagine many of my readers, at some point in their lives, received a food gift during the holidays. At what point did this lose its appeal. Have we become so indolent that we just can’t be bothered. Is the greater drive of reliance on technology to blame. These are questions to ponder as we head towards Christmas.

Capital Highlights: Patrick lays out legislative priorities

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick outlined his goals for the upcoming legislative session, calling them “general concepts,” according to the Austin American-Statesman.

With an estimated $27 billion surplus, the Legislative Budget Board voted last week to boost the Legislature’s spending capacity by 12.3% — the largest increase allowed under the state constitution. But that still leaves the Legislature having about $14.5 billion in the piggy bank above its spending limit.

With only four practices as a complete team under their belt heading into Tuesday’s home opener against Presidio, Fort Stockton had yet hit their early season stride under second-year head Zack Roberson.

That narrative changed in a rapid manner during the second quarter against the Blue Devils.

Fort Stockton erased a four-point deficit (22-18) with a 12-0 run to take a 30-22 lead with two minutes to play before halftime.
